World War Z

I was really looking forward to watching this movie ever since I saw its trailer probably 2-3 months ago. However, I haven;t had any chance to see the movie since its release here in the Philippines due to conflicts in my ever hectic schedule.

So last night, though it was a Monday night – a work night, I coerced my activity buddy, boss turned friend, to see a last full showing of the movie at this posh movie house I so wanted to try because I heard they offered good surround sound.

Well, the movie was good, but it didn’t live out to my expectations, good thing it wasn’t showing in 3D because I’ll definitely regret flushing a great deal of my allowance down the drain.

I’m not an avid fan of zombie pandemic, so its a new plot for me. The story would have been great, nice cinematography and sounds. The suspense is there, its action packed and kinda gory too. Brad Pitt’s great! However, I didn’t feel that they were able to sustain the drama and intensity of the story. It just dwindled down at the end, with lots of questions hanging open.

So yeah, it’s good but not that great. I’d try to get my hands on the book to get a great feel of the movie as well.ImageImageImage

Chill Chat with the Boss, Non-Work

I had a quick chill chat with my boss today. He was touching base with me about what’s going on on our team especially now that we have a new member.
As we continue discussing about goal planning and my earlier intentions of leaving, I was able to open up to him about my thoughts on leaving my current team, and my interest in writing. It was a good thing I mentioned it to him, because he happens to be an English major ๐Ÿ˜Š and he encourages me to practice writing and to read good books. He even offered to critique my work if I have one. As if I’ll do that. Hahaha.
It was a very delightful conversation as he shares to me some good books to read, authors I haven’t even heard off. He promised to bring me some when they come here in the Philippines, now that’s something to look forward to at a dark time like this ๐Ÿ™‚ , will get my mind off things.
He also shared with me one major ingredient in writing, that is show don’t tell Easy to grasp, if you’ll think of it, but really how do you that? In writing..? He added that it goes the same in life, well on that I agree. But how do you do that in writing???

Well, I’ll bump him about that, if we ever get a chance to have a quiet chill chat. For now, I’ll try and finish this book I’m reading so that I can practice writing a review for it ๐Ÿ™‚
